With over half of all people aged 75 and over living alone and two fifths of older people stating that television is their main company, Mannamead Care encourages all of their residents to benefit from companionship by getting involved in the variety of activities and entertainment they pride themselves on.
Looking for good company, surrounded by music for entertainment rather than the television, Ivy Grainger moved herself into Thorn Park and has never looked back.
"I only moved in a few months ago, but can definitely say that joining the family at Thorn Park is the best choice I have ever made. My favourite part of the day is participating in the different activities that the friendly and hardworking staff organise for us."
In the space of a few months, Ivy has embraced the social side of Thorn Park, making friends and chatting over a good old-fashioned plate of ham, egg and chips.
Karen Farouqa, Area Manager at Mannamead Care, explains: "The majority of residents that join us arrive frail, both physically and mentally. It is so fulfilling to see that with the right support and surroundings, they can thrive in such a short space of time. Ivy is a perfect example of this!"
With weekly days out, good food and music, Ivy would encourage anyone considering a move into a care home to think of Thorn Park. “Thorn Park is a lovely place to live, and from day one I have felt like I have been accepted into a fun, loving and helpful community.”
