With over half of all people aged 75 and over living alone, with many in need of some support, it is no wonder that the residents of Greenacres Independent Living are thrilled with the community they have become part of.
Needing to move due to being unable to look after the house, garden, or unable to use the stairs, David, Elsie, Doreen, Jean, Jean. J and Barbara chose Greenacres Independent Living and could not be happier.
"We love that although we still have our independence, we have the support and care that we also need. We are all one big community! Our favourite activity at Greenacres is making the greeting cards, taking trips out to Tavistock, Looe and Buckfast Abbey, and just being able to socialise with one another", they said.
With a variety of entertainment on offer, including armchair aerobics, a music evening once a month and even their own in-house cinema, living in the independent quarters of Greenacres has the exact amount of care and support needed for each resident, whilst also ensuring the right balance of independence.
"If we ever have any problems, we only have to ask the wonderful staff. They even arranged for 10 of us to go on an overnight trip to Torquay where we went to the theatre and were entertained every day! In the summer, we have BBQ’s where our friends and families can join us, and regularly have choirs and bands playing for us."
Designed around the independent residents, this development is specifically created with facilities and features that enable everyone to live independently in their own home. With a restaurant that provides freshly prepared meals, a function room for special occasions, and even guest accommodation for friends and family, Greenacres Independent Living is the perfect place to be for someone looking for the right balance of support and independence.
